How Many Playgrounds Does It Take...

What did I do today? Take a guess. Let me give you a hint: it involved slides, a sand box, and running around outside.

Yep, that's sand you see around my mouth. Yep, I ate some. Mmmm.

P.S. Before you say anything about my hair being all wild and crazy and my bangs being in my eyes... You can go ahead and put a barrette in there, or pull my hair back, but guess what? I don't like it. And there's nothing you can do to keep me from pulling whatever you put in my hair out. So just give it up. And don't think either that I'm going to let anyone get near my face while wielding a pair of scissors.  

Day at the Park

I become more and more independent and capable each day. Mom took me to the playground today, then for a small walk since the weather was so beautiful. I had a lot of fun, especially as there were a lot of things I could do by myself.

18 Month Check-Up

Am I growing fast or what? Well, I guess that depends on how you define growing...

With my physical and mental capabilities (walking up stairs, running, climbing, talking, etc.) I'm doing great. I'm on time, and even a bit ahead of schedule with some tasks.

With weight and height, well, lets just say, I'm keeping up with the curve. But I surpassed 20 lbs finally, and I'm now considered back on the chart at the 5% mark.

Lesson Learned

I learned yesterday what it's like to slice my finger open. Not the most fun experience. I don't think I'll be trying it again. Dad made fun of me, making jokes about me not being able to be a piano player now or not being able to type on a keyboard. Karma kicked in a couple hours later and Dad ended up with an even bigger bandage (and worse cut) on his thumb.

Mississippi Valley National Wildlife Refuge

It was 50 degrees out yesterday and most of the snow had melted, so Mom and Dad took me to a playground, then a wildlife refuge where we hiked around and checked out part of the flooded Mississippi River.

The river even covered part of the trail we were on, but we were able to get around it and keep going. I was getting tired of riding in my (awesome off-road) stroller, so I got out and hiked a while.

As we neared the end of the trail (it was a loop), we came to a rather big staircase. Mom wasn't too happy to have to climb the staircase with the stroller. I tried to make it up by myself, but got too tired halfway up to keep going, so Dad let me ride on his shoulders.

I enjoyed getting out, walking in the woods, and listening to geese honk when we were down by the river. Mom said she spotted a couple of bald eagles, but they never came close enough for me to see. 

Later today or tomorrow Mom will post pictures that Dad took with our better camera.

Mythical Baby

I went to bed at 8:15 p.m. last night. I slept until 9:30 a.m.

I went down for a nap at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. First hour asleep, check. Let's see if I can go for two!

Mom's happy with the time off. And no one else believes her that I can sleep this much.
