Tree Climbing Competition

Dad asked me Saturday morning if I wanted to see some guys climb trees at a park. I said yeah, so we drove to Oak Hill Park in St. Louis Park, MN to watch the Annual Tree Climbers Championship. (Some climbers from Dad's work were competing.)

When we first arrived, I was pretty interested in watching the climbers climb into the trees.

The climbers performed various tasks, from climbing ropes to performing rescues. The best climbers were able to combine agility with accuracy.

I had enough fun running around the park, watching the climbers, and meeting new people that I had to take a break for a nap.

After my nap, Mom took me over to the playground while we waited for the competition to wrap up. I crossed this step bridge all by myself. I was pretty proud of that.

Water Play

Hmm, why isn't this gun squirting water?

Okay, so I don't look like I'm having that much fun, but I really am. After I ran out of water in the gun, I was only concerned with Mom filling it back up. I didn't even notice my other water toys.

Mom promised she'd fill the gun again, after I spent some playing with my other toys and she had a chance to read a little.

Where should I pour the water in this cup?

Look, Mom! I can get myself all wet!

Cooking with Evie: Homemade Chili Mac

Tonight, we made chili mac. I like to help Mom prepare the ingredients. I help her get everything out she needs.

After she cuts up the vegetables needed in the meal, I put them into small bowls for Mom to add into the meal as she cooks.

And I help dole out the necessary amount of spices.

If you want a good recipe for chili mac, check out the Eclectic Recipes blog.

Brookview Park

Mom and I met up with some friends from a class today at a park. It was nice to get out of the house for a while, and I loved being able to swing, climb, and dig in the sand. It's been long enough since we were last at a playground. The weather was perfect. Not too hot. Not too cool. And sunny!

I wasted no time heading to the swings when we first got there. They're my favorite part of the playground.

After I finished swinging, I toured the rest of the playground. I explored the half that includes two fun boats to climb around, one for smaller kids, the other for a little bit bigger kids.

I got distracted by the bigger swings before finishing my tour.

Then, I moved on to the teeter-totter.

I practiced balancing.

I practiced climbing.

And I tried out almost every slide.

I had too much fun. I'm happy that it's almost summer again.

I Spy...

...a mother dove and her baby in my backyard.

Then she spotted me and flew away.

Soccer Try Out

Mom and Dad bought a soccer ball for me to play with at the park. Today was the first day we had a chance to kick it around.

 Ready!

Set!

Kick!

Let me try that again...

Check out my form.

I tried running while kicking the ball to Dad.

Then Mom got distracted by some leaves.

And I got distracted by some dandelions.

Then a garbage truck drove by. I was fascinated by it, but a little nervous, too.

After Mom and Dad had enough of running around, they sat down for a while.

I sat with them for a minute...

...but quickly got the urge to run some more.

I had a lot of fun with my new ball. I think I like it.

Friends

What are the advantages of having friends?

Well, of course, the best and most obvious advantage is having someone else to play with (or nearby to)...

But you also get to experience different toys...

Eat treats...

And get out of the house.
