Valentine Exchange

I exchanged Valentines with my friends today.

Before handing out our Valentines, we all colored and put together mailboxes so we'd have something to put the Valentines into. I made sure to include every color available on my mailbox.

I took so long that eventually I was the last kid coloring. That was okay, though.

I had a lot of fun and was excited to go through all of my Valentines after I got home. I didn't mind having an excuse to eat some candy, either.

Salt Dough

Mom made some salt dough for me to play with today.

I wasn't sure what to think at first of this sticky dough stuff on my fingers.

But with some cookie cutters and a little help from Mom...

I figured out that playing with the dough was a lot of fun.

I cut out heart shapes.

Then cut out more heart shapes.

I had to show Dad my messy fingers.

Then I got back to cutting out more heart shapes.

After finishing my work, I had a pensive moment. I was considering what I want to do with my hearts after they dry.

I think tomorrow I'll paint them, then attach some ribbon.

Salt dough recipe:

1 cup salt
2 cups flour
1 cup water (lukewarm)

Mix salt and flour together, then pour water in slowly. Kneed dough for about five minutes.

You can let the dough air dry, or you can dry it in the oven. Just google "salt dough" and it's easy to find sites that give directions on how to dry the dough in the oven. For the sake of laziness, Mom is letting them air dry.

Getting Out

I went to a friend's house today to decorate and eat Valentine cookies.

I waited patiently to be handed the sprinkles bottle, then I dumped ALL of them out on one of my cookies 'cause that's how I roll.

The cookies were delicious. I ate both all by myself. Okay, I shared most of the second one with Mom.

When we got home I fell into a sugar coma and stayed there for over an hour! Mom is happy I'm a heavy sleeper and that she can still get things done when I end up falling asleep on the couch in the living room.

P.S. At my friend's house I came across a toy I really like.

Hoarfrost

It's warm again. Well, warm for the end of January/beginning of February.

We got a little bit of snow last week. I enjoyed watching it fall from the sky. I was hoping to go sledding in it last weekend, except I got sick. So, I didn't go.

Then it warmed up again, and most of the snow melted. Mom and I ended up housebound for the week because just as I started to feel a little better, Mom got sick. By Friday, Mom and I had some pretty bad cabin fever. But we were able to get out of the house today, and, boy, did we need it!

This morning we woke up to a very pretty scene outside: Everything was covered in hoarfrost. Dad grabbed out the camera, and Mom and I took a little walk with him around the pond out back while he captured some images.

Two More Recordings

Mom has been playing around more with recording different interactions and moments. Here are two.

In the first, Mom was playing a game of throwing playing cards around the living room. She would count to three, then throw the cards up in the air. I really liked the game, and each time Mom began to count I would get really excited in anticipating the cards going everywhere. My excitement peaked with a lovely scream, which Mom happened to capture on her phone.

The second recording captured me reading a couple books (The Feelings Book by Todd Parr and Good Night, Sweet Butterflies by Dawn Bentley), and singing, at first, Rock-a-bye Baby, then Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to myself after Mom and Dad laid me down at bedtime.
