Day 6: Dancing

Every Thursday during the summer there's a kid concert/entertainment near where I live. Mom has taken me to many of the events, and I've enjoyed most of them. 

While we wait for things to get set up, I usually feed fish at a pond behind the stage.

Sometimes I get a little too distracted to pay attention to the performance...

But most of the time I like to dance.

Day 5: Como Zoo and Como Town

We took our first summertime trip to Como Zoo.

Finally, I got to see the flamingoes in the pond, as well as other birds that aren't out throughout the rest of the year...

I got to see the orangutans playing on their outdoor gym...

...and the sea lion show.

I also got to see the giraffe's outside, although, when they're inside, I get to see them up closer.

Still, I waved and said hi to them. They are one of my favorite animals.

After looking at the animals, we headed over to Como Town, a small amusement park connected to the zoo.

I rode on the train with Mom.

I rode the Tilt-a-Whirl with Dad.

I loved it! I didn't get scared at all.

I wrote Aladdin's Magic Carpet all by myself!

And I got to drive a car all by myself.

I can't wait until I'm tall enough to do some bigger rides.

Day 4: Swimming and a Free Lunch

Mom and Dad took me swimming at a nearby community center's outdoor pool. I'm hoping this wasn't my last time swimming this summer, but the weather has turned a little cool. Hopefully it warms up enough for one more day because I love the water!

After drying off, we headed around to the side of the community center where the local police and fire departments set up a free lunch for everyone and activities for kids. 

There were even free sno cones! 

This was my first one.

The firefighters set up a fire hose that kids could practice putting out a fire with (or, really, shoot the water at boards with flames painted on them). 

That was my favorite part. I could have done this for the rest of the day, but I guess I had to give other kids a turn at it, too.

Day 3: Adventures in Canoeing

We rented a canoe at French Regional Park and explored a small inlet on Medicine Lake. 

This was my first time in a canoe. 

Dad told me where to sit, and I was ready to go.

Dad asked the rental place how hard it was paddling through the lilly pads. He was told it was pretty difficult. Still, we decided to give it a try anyway in the hopes of seeing some birds that hide out on edges of marshes.

I enjoyed seeing the pads and flowers up close.

After a few minutes, we headed back out into the open water to explore another area.

We were treated with a spotting of a Great Blue Heron.

He wasn't comfortable with us sitting so close.

We made it as far into the inlet as we could get, then we turned around.

As we made our way back to the beach...

I got to help Dad with the paddling. I had asked throughout the entire trip for a chance to paddle.
